The smallest of surface irregularities can sometimes cause the greatest of challenges. Tapes and membranes have difficulties wetting out within micro surface topographies. Greater reliance is therefore placed on liquid flashing. While these fluid-applied systems improve surface contact, they are tedious and imperfect in application. What appears to be a perfectly treated fastener is anything but when examined closely – or tested. The carrier membrane offers a solution by providing superior wet-out and improved water resistance even on irregular surfaces. The concept is novel as it may be applied behind the WRB, integral to it, or over the WRB – as shown here over the SE430 panel in a 21. 6” face column. Ongoing testing has shown 60-day face column performance on a variety of surfaces, including Zip panels. In all cases, the weakest link now becomes its strongest.
