This week I’m starting a new pilot study on subfloor adhesives and their bond strengths with various substrates under various conditions.

This initial study aims to sort out some methodologies while also offering insights for product introduction and marketing.

I hope to accomplish several things, including comparison of MgO to traditional plywood and OSB, comparison of polyethers to urethanes, and comparison of common retail DIY brands to ‘professional grade’ products.

Eventually, I hope to extend this study to include bond characteristics of other adhesives with other bond interfaces, including WRBs, facers, masonry, composite panels, and even as supplements to cladding attachment systems.
