I’m wrapping up an interesting study that compares water resistance of glass mat gypsum sheathing.
As a parallel study, I’m also examining facer/core pull-off resistance in wetted versus dry material. Preliminary findings show no surprises, wetting clearly affects the panel’s mechanical properties – emphasizing the need for robust water resistance.
Here I’ve used the same simple ponding apparatus where 3/16” of standing water is maintained for 5 to 48 hours. Some interesting outcomes, so I’m looking forward to going deeper down this rabbit hole.
