I’m excited to introduce the fastener patch – a faster, easier, and more continuous solution for treating exposed fasteners.
This patent-pending innovation represents a collaboration between myself and Sustant USA a provider of advanced building enclosure products. We’re introducing it under Sustant’s inspiring new brand, SealSkin.
The idea was born out of the need to easily and reliably treat exposed fasteners for the purpose of air and water management. It reflects years of field and research showing the vulnerability of untreated and poorly-treated fastener heads.
This current form is intended for planar interfaces where fasteners are flush or countersunk – ideal for integrated WRB panels. A variant configured with a fleece backer is designed to receive most coatings, including acrylics. In the works are patches to address washers, button caps, and raised fasteners.
