Always evolving, my face column methods have been improved to accommodate polyethylene and polypropylene WRBs.

Sheet WRBs pose a challenge for face column testing due to leaks at column walls. Leaks are usually attributed to poor adhesion to low surface energy WRBs. Leaks also arise from ‘leaky scrim syndrome’ – water transport through porous outer scrims of multi-layered polymerics.

Both problems are solvable to achieve water-tight seals for virtually any test duration. Here I show revised applications using a common polyolefin sheet.
